Etsy Fee Calculator
Etsy charges at four separate points: a listing fee when you publish, a transaction fee when it sells, payment processing on the money you collect, and sometimes an offsite ads fee on the whole order. Each one looks small on its own. Together they usually take 10-15% of what the buyer pays, before you spend a cent on materials or postage.
This calculator adds every Etsy fee together, subtracts them from what the buyer actually pays, and shows the number that matters: what lands in your bank account. Every rate below is editable, so you can match your own shop and country.

How Etsy fees work
Etsy changes fees by country and category. The defaults here follow the published US rates; always confirm against Etsy's own fee page before pricing a large batch.
| Fee | Typical rate | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Applies to the item price and to shipping charged to the buyer. |
| Payment processing (US) | 3% + $0.25 | Rate differs by country. |
| Listing fee | $0.20 | Charged when you publish and every time the listing renews or sells. |
| Offsite ads | 12% or 15% | Only on orders attributed to an offsite ad. 12% once you have passed $10,000 in the last 365 days. |
| Regulatory operating fee | 0-0.25% | Applied to sellers in certain countries. Set it in the fee panel if it applies to you. |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | Charged when your listing currency differs from your payout currency. |
Worked example
A typical order priced at $42.00 with $6.00 of shipping charged to the buyer costs you $11.00 in product and $6.50 to ship and pack.
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Buyer pays | $48.00 |
| Total platform fees | -$5.01 |
| Product, shipping and other costs | -$17.50 |
| Net profit | $25.49 (53.10% margin) |
| Break-even price | $13.83 |
What sellers get wrong on Etsy
- Pricing against the headline fee only. The commission is rarely the whole cost: fixed fees, payment processing and advertising add several points on top.
- Forgetting what shipping really costs. If you charge the buyer less than the label and packaging actually cost, every sale quietly loses money.
- Ignoring returns. A 3% return rate on a 20% margin product removes a sixth of your profit. Put it in the reserve field.
- Never checking the break-even price. Knowing the lowest price you can accept on an offer is the difference between a negotiation and a loss.
Etsy fee calculator FAQ
Does Etsy charge a fee on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the shipping you charge the buyer, and payment processing applies to the full amount collected. Charging exact postage is not fee-neutral on Etsy.
Do I pay the $0.20 listing fee again when a listing renews?
Yes. Every listing costs $0.20 and is charged again when it sells or when the four-month listing period renews, so a slow-selling item costs money while it sits there.
How much do I need to charge to cover Etsy fees?
Look at the break-even price in the results panel. That is the lowest price you can charge on this order and still not lose money. Add your target margin to the target price field to get the price you actually want to list at.
Is the Etsy transaction fee 6.5% or 3.5%?
The transaction fee is 6.5%. The 3% figure you sometimes see is payment processing, which is charged on top, and there is a $0.25 fixed component on top of that in the US.
